MEREWETHER SEAWALL REHABILITATION

December 2016

QMF Construction was awarded the contract by Bridge and Civil Pty Ltd, to construct a new concrete seawall and conduct concrete rehabilitation works at Merewether Beach, in Newcastle NSW.

Scope of works on this project included but was not limited to:

• 100m of new seawall

• Retaining walls

• Promenade works

• Repairs to beach access ramps

Other aspects of the project included; working in a beach environment with weather, tides and swell conditions to contend with, strict environmental controls to ensure stability and prevent erosion, access and machinery constraints. During excavation a beautiful piece of petrified wood was found which will now be carefully extracted and be inserted as a feature into the seawall.
